YouTube Downgraded Us for Reading the Bible Out Loud
For nearly four years we have poured hours into one simple thing: reading the Scriptures aloud with clarity, reverence, and no added commentary. No opinions. No teachings layered on top. Just the Word itself—from The Scriptures (ISR 2009) and the King James Version with restored names—spoken carefully so listeners can hear it, meditate on it, and let it stand on its own.
We have uploaded 138 videos. We have edited every one of them carefully for YouTube. We have never been monetized. We do not run our own ads. Yet YouTube places ads on those videos and profits from them.
And the reward for this steady, peaceful work?
A notification that our channel has lost access to advanced features. The message is the standard one many creators are now receiving: insufficient channel history or a finding that the channel does not comply with Community Guidelines. The implication is clear—features can be restricted further, and accounts can face more serious action.
We are left asking the obvious question: What exactly is the violation in reading the Bible out loud with no commentary?
The same content lives freely on Apple Podcasts, Audible, Spotify, Amazon Music, and every other major podcast platform. Those platforms have not restricted us for reading Scripture. Only YouTube—the platform where we invested the most time creating and refining video versions—has chosen to downgrade the channel.
This is not a channel filled with controversy, rage, or borderline content. It is calm narration of the text. Psalms. Proverbs. Prophets. Gospels. The words that have sustained people for centuries. The same words countless other channels read without issue. Yet somehow pure Scripture narration has triggered a restriction.
YouTube continues to monetize the videos through ads while limiting the tools we need to serve the audience who come looking for the Word. That is the part that stings the most. They take the revenue. We lose the features.
We will keep reading. The podcast continues on every other platform. The website remains open at scripturenarration.com. The mission has not changed: let the Scriptures be heard clearly, without distraction.
