“Give ear, O Shepherd of Yisra’ĕl, You who lead Yosĕph like a flock; You who dwell between the keruḇim, shine forth! … Turn us back, O YAHUAH Elohim of hosts, and cause Your face to shine, that we might be saved!”
Step into the heartfelt plea of Tehillim 80 (Psalms 80), a powerful cry for the restoration of Yisra’ĕl. Written by Asaph, this Psalm is an earnest prayer to the Shepherd who guides His people, asking Him to once again look down from the heavens and tend to the vine He planted.
About This Reading In this episode, we sit with Psalms 80. This narration utilizes The Scriptures 2009 (ISR)translation. As a humble vessel, I seek to honor the set-apart Names of our Creator and His Messiah, speaking 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YAHUAH) and YAHUSHA as the Spirit gives utterance.
Psalms 80 carries a deeply moving, repeating refrain: a desperate cry for Elohim to turn His people back and cause His face to shine upon them. It beautifully recounts how YAHUAH brought a vine out of Mitsrayim (Egypt), cleared the ground for it, and caused it to take deep root. Yet, in their current distress, the walls are broken down. The Psalm closes with a prophetic, Messianic plea for YAHUAH to lay His hand upon the “Man of Your right hand, the Son of man whom You made strong for Yourself,” promising that if He revives them, they will call upon His Name and not turn back.
We aim to decrease so that the glorious majesty, the perfect right-rulings, and the sovereign Name of 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 may be the sole focus of your meditation.
